I've been moderated!!

I have about 30 blogs in my favourites that I check daily. When I am looking for new blogs I click on the links in my favourite blogs which in turn uncovers more interesting reading material.

In this fashion, I stumbled across a blog that will remain nameless that had this posted:

I've been reading weight loss blogs for about a year now, probably 10-20 regularly so that's maybe 15 years of people losing weight, and I have yet to
read of someone finishing their diet. Ok, that's not 100% percent correct. I did read of one person who lost all of their excess weight, but she wrote that at an earlier time, as I was catching up on her blog posts. Also, most people who finish their diet will put in back on. Only about 3% of people are at a weight that they lost to reach and are stable at that point.

Now I'm not sure if you can tell from my blogging but I am fairly passionate about the whole weight loss journey, principally because I have spent nearly half my life without knowing the joy, confidence and strength of being fit and healthy. So I posted a reply to this post.

I can't remember the exact words but it was along the lines that I am never going to "finish my diet" because there is no going back to how I lived before etc. etc. etc. ... you get the picture.

I thought I was firm but fair and of course, stated that it was my opinion. I checked back to see if I had got a response or if anyone else had commented.

Guess what - my post had been DELETED. I had been moderated!

You see, that's the problem with blogs, you can manipulate the truth - the truth is that I [and possibly other people] don't agree with his view and rather than acknowledge that, he deleted my comment.

So today I have taken a vow never to delete a comment on my blog unless it is obviously spam or offensive. Differing opinions are fine - bring it on, I love a good discussion. I will always allow you your God given right to express your opinion without me trying to change it. Mr Katie and I disagree about a whole range of things, but that is what keeps us interested and intellectually stimulated.

If you don't agree with me - go ahead, tell me! Go on, you know you want to!!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Bought a new Ipod today as the old one(s) didn't recover from the drenching. It's expensive to be fit and healthy but I bet if I asked an 80kg woman if she would give me $379 [the price of the Ipod] to be my size and shape, I bet she would. I see it as paying the maintenance costs on this new sports model!! [servicing a Ferrari is always more expensive than a Honda].
Found a set of scales in the shopping centre and weighed in at 60.9. That's clothed, with shoes and belt in the middle of the afternoon. Secretly hoping to see a 50's number when I get home on Monday ... secretly bloody excited!!
I love being on holiday - today was the first sunny day since I've been here and lay by the pool from 9-30am to 1-00pm. Here's the weird part, when I lay down my stomach was concave! It's been flat before but not lower than my hip bones. The front of my bikini pants had a small air gap!! I think I am the skinniest and toned I have EVER been. Shame I didn't do this years ago and then I wouldn't have all those stretch marks and stubborn celulite on my thighs, but honestly, I am not complaining. My Ferrari is second hand with a bit of body damage, but she drives like a dream ... aaahhh sick of "car" metaphors!!!
    That's pretty outrageous about your comment being deleted. Harrumph! I guess misery loves company, or something.
    I am another successful dieter (and fellow Australian) around 60kg, down from 100, and I've kept the weight off for three years now. So there are some of us out here. ;-)
    Good on you for not deleting posts!
  4. Katie, first I hope that you did not felt hurt or offended by my deletion of your comment. However, the reason why I deleted your comment was not your opinion. The first comment on my blog was something I disagree with. It's still there. The reason I deleted your comment was that it did not seem to relate to anything that I had written, and was written in a style that was as if it wasn't written towards me, it could be written to anyone, in any posting, of any weight loss blog. That was why I deleted it.
    John.
  6. My stomach is concave (only when I lay down of course) too - that is my most troublesome area - so doubly good!
    LOL! I'm still puzzling over his "explanation"!
  8. I've seen other blogs where negative comments have been deleted...and have also vowed to never delete a comment unless it's offensive or spam.
    And yea, Logical Guy's explaination doesn't make sense to me either!!
