CKD Week 2 Day 3

Curiouser and curiouser ...

No second day spike today. Feeling like I've shrunk a lot. My one pair of jeans that fits me has room in the waist band - a lot of room.

No idea why this happened, but I can't complain about an early start to the losing part of the cycle.

For those of you who have just joined us -- I "carb up" on Saturdays. The "official" weigh in is Saturday morning which is usually the lowest for the week and then Sunday [and sometimes Monday] show the weight spike. So in order to appreciate what is happening with my weight you have to compare today's weight to this time last week [not to yesterday]. The aim is to be lower this week than the numbers directly above for the same day in previous weeks.

Obviously, this is not an exact science, but all signs point to something working.

The best part is that none of the things I thought were "stalling" me were actually the culprits in this process. It appears that it was my body refusing to lose any more weight, not what I ate. To prove the point, yesterday I had my favourite protein bar and it obviously didn't have a bad effect. I am actually able to eat and drink the things I have worried about - diet coke, artificial sweetner, sugar alcohols, cheese - without any effect. That makes me very happy - and liberated. I am now free from writing down and scrutinising everything I eat to determine if some mystery food is causing me to gain weight.

I am so glad that something is actually working after so long trying every different permutation of every eating plan. It also appears that the pill [started on the 15th] is not having a negative effect so far -- phew!

I am seeing my very best friend in the whole wide world on 1 June who I haven't seen in person for over 4 years. We are the same age, have been friends since we were 16, and she was always the skinny one. I am so looking forward to her opinion of how I look. She is the only person in my life who has truly understood how much I have struggled with my weight. I hope she is proud of me. I just may be a lean mean machine by then -- I've got 6 weeks to go.
