BDS Day #4

Yesterday's Food: You have used 1674 out of your net daily budget of 1840 calories and have 166 calories remaining. 29% of the calories are from fat, 28% from protein, 43% from carbs
Yesterday's Credit:
★ I didn't buy anything to snack on at the supermarket when I got groceries
★ I went to yoga even though I have a sore shoulder and wrist
★ I didn't have anything to eat after dinner
★ I noticed that I didn't actually enjoy my fish and was aware that I shouldn't finish things I am not enjoying

Day #4 Give Yourself Credit
Once I build my confidence by giving myself credit, healthy eating will be easier.

If I don't give myself credit for essential behaviours, I'll be less likely to do them consistently. If I were naturally thin, had a small appetite and didn't have to work at controlling my weight, perhaps I wouldn't deserve credit. But I am NOT naturally thin, I DO struggle, I DO deserve credit every single time I think about something in a helpful way or engage in helpful behaviours.

I made a list of all the things I already do that I deserve credit for.

★ training ★ sitting down to eat ★ eating adequate protein
★ building muscle ★ eating breakfast ★ never taking the lift at work
★ no sugar ★ eating vegetables ★ having competed
★ eating fruit ★ blogging about my issues ★ taking my supplements
★ reading books ★ taking food to work ★ deep breathing/meditation
★ keeping 20kg off for over 3 years ★ living like an athlete ★ perseverance
★ green tea ★ friends with the same interests ★ drug free
★ healthy lifestyle ★ doing this program ★ optimism
★ 6 meals a day

TO DO LIST

I read my Advantages Response Card at least twice
I read other Response Cards as needed.
I instigated a reminder system to give myself credit - logging it each day along with my eating
I sat down to eat every time

What a great post and a great idea. You've inspired me to do something similar Katie. Like you, I NEVER give myself credit for anything, it's against my religion I think. LOL!!

Would love to know how you incorporated the stars and tick boxes into your post too if you wouldn't mind?

I'm enjoying reading your current journey. You're doing really well and thankyou for inspiring me. I certainly could do with it. :o)

You have to use the following HTML code (on blogger you just use the HTML tab)

    input(space)checked="checked" type="checkbox"
put in a space instead of the (space)and <> at start and beginning
    see - http://www.htmlcodetutorial.com/forms/_INPUT_CHECKED.html

    & #9733; = ★ (take out the space)
    see -

I just google HTML code for whatever I need and then copy and paste it.

That's the part that gets me every time! I usually go to the grocery with a shopping list of healthy foods, but on my way out, I almost always go to the hot deli section and buy a bunch of greasy fried food. I've got to stop that.

You're such a sweetheart, thank you. I'll have a play this afternoon and try for myself.

Now about this book. I'd love to know your thoughts on it and how you came across it if you wouldn't mind sharing please. :o)

You are very inspiring. I'm proud up myself for some of the same things too. Today I managed to walk out of the grocery store without a candy bar (but later at the mall I almost caved and got an icecream cone...luckily I realized I didn't have any cash with me by then. whew!!)

    Keep up the good work!
