Liver Qi Stagnation

When a flow of Qi in meridians is stagnated the affected organs will malfunction. In case of liver Qi stagnation, one typically feels distending pain along the sides of the body (especially in the chest), easily gets upset, depressed, and has irregular, painful menstruation or swollen breasts for woman.

That's what TIM just told me - apparently I have Liver Qi Stagnation (he is a Chinese herbalist as well as a masseuse). I looked it up when I got home and saw all my symptoms staring back at me. I didn't mention the chest pain or the PMT to Tim, in fact he told me my liver was stressed after 30 seconds of feeling my back, shoulders and neck.

I'm off to the Chinese herbalist in Chinatown to get the potion to fix me up. It's called
Jia Wei Xiao Yao Wan.

My cynicism just kicked in - that description above would probably apply to 90% of the female population so it might have been a lucky guess. No matter - anything is worth a try - can't hurt can it?

  1. I was thinking the same thing about that description - it's a bit like a horoscope or palm reading, could fit almost anyone.

If you reduce saturated fats, cut our trans-fats and increase the essential fats (omega 3s and 6s), you'll benefit in many ways. Don't make the mistake of cutting overall fat intake too low, your skin and general health will suffer.

  2. Your comment about the ice was really interesting... Stew and I just talked about my ice craving and when it started again... and you are probably right! It has only been in the last month or two... I am positive I am iron deficient... and will do something more pro active about it.... I am tired all the time and even get breathless often... all signs of iron deficiency eh? NOt sure if I can just get a supplement from a Health Food Shop or should I go to the Dr? I do NOT WANT INJECTIONS!!!!
