About Me

I spent all of my adult years overweight (5'5" - 85kg/187lbs). On January 1 2005 when I was 40 years old and my clothes were getting tighter I embarked on my first ever successful weight loss attempt - the first one that included strength training. The muscles I built (I never did cardio in the beginning) were the catalyst that changed my life. I wasn't until I had lost over 20 kg that I actually signed up for a gym membership because I was waiting until I was thin enough to go to the gym.
I started blogging in 2006 after I gained back 10 kilos of my initial weight loss and had lost my way. At that point, I was a Weight Watchers girl and successfully got back to my goal weight.
Since then, I have tried every diet plan there is from mainstream programs like WW to more specialised plans like Body for Life to Low Carb. I have recently had success with Burn the Fat Feed the Muscle and The Ultimate Diet 2.0. I have also struggled with episodes of binge eating along the way.
In 2008 I competed for the first time in the Sydney ANB Novice Figure Titles, and in 2009 I competed for the second time in the INBA Brisbane Masters Figure Titles.
My goal is to find a way of living that helps me keep the body I've always imagined while being sane and happy. I love my food and I love to lift weights.

I believe that losing fat should be as painless as possible, and keeping it off should become easier and easier by the day. I advocate that the only plan that will work for me is the one that I can stick with. I am convinced that fat loss is not simply nutrition and exercise but largely determined by what goes on in my head.
I am extremely proud of the fact that I have gone from an unhappy overweight woman to a fit, lean athlete while still eating pancakes and icecream. I will never be seen eating steamed chicken breasts and green vegetables - more likely a chicken, cheese, mayonnaise and salad wrap.
